Mecca Grand Mosque to Host Saudi Int’l Quran Contest in Summer

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 43rd edition of Saudi Arabia’s international Quran competition will be held in the holy city of Mecca this summer.

According to Okaz daily, the Grand Mosque in Mecca will host the Quranic event in the lunar Hijri month of Safar (August-September).

The ministry of Islamic affairs, Dawah, and guidance annually organized the competition on Quran recitation, memorization and interpretation.

Islamic Affairs Minister Abdul Latif Al Sheikh said the contest has a prominent status internationally.

He added that it is aimed at promoting the learning of Quran recitation, memorization and interpretation among the Muslim youth.

Memorization of entire Quran and recitation in the seven readings along with observation of Tajweed rules, memorization of entire Quran along with observation of Tajweed rules and interpretation of words, and memorization of 15 Juzes (parts) of the Quran are among the categories of the international event.
